SUMMARY:
The Chief Executive Officer of the Women's Resource Center (WRC) is responsible for the overall strategic and operational leadership of the organization. The duties of the CEO shall be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the purpose of the organization and within the policies and guidelines approved by the Board of Directors. The CEO is directly accountable to the Board.

Women's Resource Center advocates for women to achieve economic independence through meaningful employment. Our programs and services empower and educate. We partner with caring individuals and organizations throughout West Michigan to purposefully transform the employment outcomes for all women.
 
The issues faced by women in the workforce drive our programming and inspire our mission. We've traveled hand- in-hand with women since 1973 as they have seen their own social situations change and the environment in the workplace evolve.  Along the way our programs and services have grown to more effectively motivate and inspire our participants, while giving voice to all women who seek meaningful employment in our community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Communicates, collaborates and influences constituents, sponsors and funders. Creates, builds and maintains effective relationships with internal staff, clients, volunteers, major donors, community business partners, external third party consultants and advisors and the community at large.
  • Maintains a positive and ideal image to the public about the WRC. Represents WRC in a variety of internal and external venues. Collaborates with community to influence growth and understanding of the WRC.
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with Board members and facilitate utilization of their respective professional expertise in various advisory capacities for the WRC. Keeps the Board informed regarding important matters.
  • Manages and oversees various organizational projects, programs, staff and volunteers. Ensures appropriate treatment of clients.
  • Ensures programs are of highest quality, are regularly and effectively evaluated, and are designed and delivered so as to provide maximum benefits to customers, staff and the community.
  • Leads the development, execution and monitoring of the strategic growth plan that effectively advances WRC unique value proposition and ensures growth objectives are met.
  • Establishes appropriate annual and long term financial objectives and manages to consistently achieve these goals.
  • Ensures appropriate systems are maintained to protect assets, mitigate risks and maintain effective controls while conforming to best practices.
  • Raises revenue, oversees fundraising activities and partners with Donor Relations Committee in ongoing efforts dedicated to the Annual Giving, Endowment Fund, Special Events, Major Gifts and Planned Giving as well as targeted development efforts.
  • Build and maintain community partnerships with funders, donors and corporate sponsors. Assist in acquiring gifts from foundations, corporations, individuals and government sources.
  • Monitors community and industry trends and recommends appropriate responses to maximize organizational benefit. Anticipates change and prepares the organization to respond from a position of strength rather than reaction.
  • Maintains professional affiliations to keep abreast of trends or changes in the field.
  • Performs all other responsibilities and projects as necessary to the success of WRC.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, finance, communication, service delivery or related. Master's preferred.
  • Sound knowledge in human resources and financial management.
  • Five (5) years demonstrated experience serving in a leadership role exhibiting strong skills, with the ability to inspire, influence, collaborate and negotiate. Leadership experience must include managing a team.
  • Demonstrated experience raising significant funds.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including good listening skills.
  • Grant writing experience desirable.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm, poised, and diplomatic.
  • High-level collaboration and influencing skills to achieve high performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance internal management responsibilities with the external visibility that is vital to achieving the strategic business goals of WRC.
  • Demonstrates current knowledge and understanding of nonprofit industry.
  • Comfortable in generating and implementing ideas, and utilizes knowledge and experience base to develop a vision of the future of WRC.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to attain timely competency with a variety of technological advancements adopted by the organization, such as basic computer, electronic health record, etc.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Salaried-exempt role in a fast-paced professional office environment within a dynamic and growing organization. Subject to multiple interruptions, changes in workload, competing priorities, varied and/or extended hours, and deadline situations. Providing leadership and direction to maintain efficient and effective operations across multiple departments is a primary expectation.
