The Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the delivery of a broad range of HR support and performs a variety of Human Resources functions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in cross-functional HR projects, and new initiatives. This individual must be a critical thinker analytical and have exceptional customer service skills. demonstrated ability to work independently with little supervision. The successful candidate will analyze, support, and perform responsibilities in the following areas: benefits, employment, retirement, and wellness. Works as an integral member of the HR team on initiatives to insure data integrity. The successful candidate must be responsive, excel at problem solving, and initiate solutions. Successful candidates will be a self-starter, committed to lifelong learning, and possess a high value for collaboration and a comfort with ambiguity. The Senior HR Generalist must value working with a diverse constituency and communicate effectively and professionally.

  • Ability to answer a wide variety of benefits related questions and work to resolve issues relating to multiple benefit plans.
  • Serve as a University liaison between employee and benefit companies for designated services, as well as working with the other benefit plan administrators.
  • Assist or lead projects in Human Resources functional areas as needed.
  • Conduct benefit exit reviews and process benefit changes with carriers.
  • Conduct benefit orientations and process new employee orientation documents.
  • Answer tuition waiver questions, trouble shoot issues and process tuition waiver grad tax.
  • Process COBRA and maintain monthly COBRA records.
  • Coordinate the FSU Employee Healthy U Wellness program, wellness events and wellness social media with direction from the Manager of Benefits.
  • Guide faculty and staff in compliance with policies/procedures and contract language.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations related to HR and monitor benefit plans for adherence to appropriate regulations.
  • Prepare annual total compensation statements.
  • Process faculty retirees and VRIPs and maintain monthly records.
  • Update and maintain benefit pages on FSU website.
  • Perform other related duties and functions as assigned.
  • Backup for FMLA and other leaves.
  • Assist or backup new employee orientations, assist applicants, and hiring managers with PeopleAdmin.
  • Produce accurate surveys, reports and audits in a timely manner.
  • Serve on University committees.
  • Carry out responsibilities in accordance with University policies, procedures and applicable laws.
  • Report directly to the Manager of Benefits or designee.
  • Responsible for maintaining confidentiality.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of responsibility with integrity by supporting the FSU mission, vision, and core values.
  • Achieve a working knowledge of Banner HR and Employee Navigator.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing.
  • Work cooperatively with a variety of employees, vendors, and departments, to resolve employee and benefit related issues.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employee benefit regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Understand complexities of bargaining unit contracts.
  • Prioritize detail-oriented work in a fast paced and time sensitive manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
  • Three years’ experience in Human Resources or related experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology and ability to perform advanced functions in MS Office Suite.
  • Experience working with detailed information and data.
  • SHRM – CP or PHR
  • Experience in a higher education or union environment.
  • Specialization in benefits.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Banner HR.
  • Experience with complex data analysis.
  • Experience working within policies, procedures, and regulations.
